Research Executive – The Intelligent New Business Group

Posted by: graduatestudentjobs on: January 28, 2010

Deadline: 10 February 2010

Salary: £21K + annual performance related bonus
Location: Clerkenwell (EC1)

Overview

Pearlfinders is a London-based research company, with customers spanning the UK, Europe and the US. Since 2003 we’ve provided our customers with detailed insights directly from senior executives from companies around the globe. Due to our success in working with marketing agencies, in 2008 we launched a new product into an entirely new sector, IT and telecommunications. Our research team is responsible for providing our clients with these detailed interviews, as well as monitoring business and trade press for the reasons we speak with them. Each day the executives we interview can range from an IT Director at Virgin, through to an Operations Manager at an FMCG brand. Due to our success over the last 18 months we’re looking at adding to this research team.

The Role:

The research position is fast-paced and deadline-driven. You’ll be involved with aspects of putting the Pearlfinders product together, from monitoring trade and business press for story triggers, identifying decision-makers on each story, securing telephone interviews with them and writing content.

Our interviews are very open, trying to uncover the executive’s opinion on particular areas of technology, and how they work/engage with their preferred suppliers. You’ll need to be confident and extremely articulate to be able to discuss sensitive matters with senior figures within large companies.

This product is seen as one of our main potential growth areas for 2010, so the career development opportunities are huge. We’re looking for someone with the potential to take on a sub-editorial role within 6 months, and someone who can take an active role in the product’s evolution as we continue to grow.

Personality:

Given the pace and deadlines required for production of a daily product you must thrive working in that scenario. You’ll be comfortable speaking with senior executives as well as PAs, and be incredibly proactive. You must have a minimum of a 2:1 degree from a good university, and be meticulous when it comes to attention to detail. Experience in a research-based role is preferred, although we’re also interested in speaking to recent graduates if you feel you’re well suited.
